4WDriving Around Australia!

Sheryl & Tony Ryan semi-retired 5 years ago when they sold the restaurant they'd owned & run for 17 years. The 'campervan trip around Australia' has been delayed a few times, but they are finally ready to hit the road for ... one ... whole ... year. Follow their adventures 4WDriving around Australia!

Still in Darwin

Have been in Darwin for about 10 days now and it has been a whirlwind, we have seen so much. the boys fishing trip was fairly successful, they came home with 6 muddies the largest being 18cms, the crocs (chook eaters Andy calls them) took a few out of the crab pots but not much you can do about that. Was an interesting trip back to the boat ramp, Chris's boat motor was playing up and they had to row about 1klm back. They had a great time though and Tony is still laughing about it.We have been doing a lot of tripping around, Tony bought a fish finder, then had to buy a battery to charge it , now we have to get the boat out again to see if it works!!!!!!
We are still planning on leaving Saturday morning, (have to have a duck meal before we go) and will go to Kakadu for a few days before heading to Katherine and over to the west.Had a beautiful night last night, we all went out on a sunset cruise on the Pearl Lugger Anniki, had to go out from Cullen through the Lock then round to the main Wharf and jetty. We tasted pearl meat, ate savouries and sipped champagne as the sun went down, jealous yet?As the sun was going down the full moon was coming up behind us. A huge sailing ship was anchored and we were told that it belonged to Kirtsy Hinzes husband (Russ Hinzes grandaughter), only costs $650,000 a week to hire out. Well it was nice to look at anyway.
last Sunday when the boys were away us girls went to an Open Garden which featured
Ginger and Heliconias, was so gorgeous, we took the tour through the garden and saw how the farm works. I posted a few photos to show you.
Please keep sending emails or making comments via the site, I am still learning about it as i go
